Devastated by their recent loss of the Death Star, the Galactic Empire struggles to maintain power throughout the galaxy. Emperor Palpatine, outraged at the defeat of Yavin IV, has secretly ordered the construction of a new and improved Death Star.
Part One:
Brellon, a veteran of the Clone Wars, and current commander of Rebel forces stationed on Naboo has been looking forward to retirement. “Three more weeks, and I’ll finally be retired” he thought to himself while overlooking current base operations. “These bases are outdated and need improvement” he shouted to his lieutenant. He had spent much of his time recently overlooking patrol routes, defense grids, and personnel. He knew the Empire would not sit still for long after the destruction of their prized ‘Death Star’. He assumed, Naboo would be the first place the Empire retaliated.
“Twenty-five men! That’s all the Princess could spare me to defend our hidden base!” Lieutenant weathers stood at attention as CMDR Brellon paced back and forth. “Lieutenant, how do you recommend we secure our base?” Surprised, LT. Weathers approached the Commander’s desk. “Sir, I believe we should assign four personal bodyguards for me. The information I hold of this secret base would be devastating were it to fall into the wrong hands. We should post twenty guards on the perimeter and check that our turrets are functioning at full capacity. I also think I should be transported to one of our other facilities and help prepare them for upcoming invasion.” His advice was well received by the CMDR. “Approved, LT. Effective immediately you are to report to Dantooine. The Senator shall be glad to see her nephew, and will see to it that you get a good command. May the force be with you.
Brellon watched as the LT’s shuttle blasted off from the starport. He hated losing his brightest commanding officer, but he knew he was right. Later that evening, he returned to his post. The sun had settled, and so had the meal he had feasted on just hours before. As he laid down, he looked at a photo of his wife. She had been serving as a chef on coruscant before tragedy struck her diner and she was killed. “We’ll be together soon, my love” he whispered before turning off his bedside lamp. <Beep> <Beep> <Incoming transmission> The encoded receiver displayed: Commander Brellon are you there? He responded with a simple, ‘YES’. We just received word that the Empire is building a second death star and we need you. Report to Dantooine for immediate briefing. <End Transmission>
The commander and his bodyguards boarded the next transport to Dantooine. “A second Death Star? Hadn’t they learned the lesson the first time!?” he thought to himself. He looked at the faces of his guards. Their young faces seemed unphased by the sudden departure orders. The four of them had gone through bootcamp together and had three tours of duty each. They had seen war where many of the latest recruits had not. Chosen for their discipline and skill, they were the best guards the CMDR had ever had. Each one of them were ready to give their life to the service of the Rebellion.
DANTOOINE
The halls of the abandoned base smelt of overgrowth and burnt electrical wires. The majority of the base had been evacuated and dispersed after they had received warning that the Empire had sent an invasion force. “Welcome, Commander. It’s good to see you, I just wish it was under better circumstances said Wedge.” Brellon and Wedge fought together at the battle of Yavin IV. Their friendship had been forged under fire, and was bonded for life.
Council Room
Mon Mothma stood poised as she began her debriefing. We have confirmed that the Empire has begun the construction of a second Death Star. Its whereabouts are currently unknown and we are making it our first priority to discover its location and put an end to its construction. “Commander Brellon, you have been selected by this council to train a squad of elite forces. Return to Naboo and prepare for battle.” “You can count on me, ma’am.” Brellon said goodbye to Wedge and boarded the shuttle back to Naboo.
