Hello all,
I am a novice BH and want to ask what the best template for preparing to hunt jedi is? I currently understand BH 3xxx, TKM and some of the pistoleer tree is viable; however, that info is for the main server so I have no idea what combat is like on this one. Thanks for the help.
Combat here, for the most part, is the same as Basilisk. Differences include: stun and blind drop saberblock by 20% and 10%, respectively (this will change in 1.3 to 10% for both). Commando burn dots don't get a 1.5x knockdown multiplier like on live either and there are some changes to the Commando profession trees in terms of where they grant specials. DoT weapons are also toned down significantly here (looted DoTs cap out at 400 uses and around 300 strength, so they're fairly rare). That's pretty much it. Everything else is mostly vanilla Pre-CU SWG.
Regarding TKM, TKM is often misunderstood in terms of Bounty Hunting. TKM makes a great tank; however, without a great VK (275+ damage), SEAs (+25 Damage and +25 Acuity), and food (Burnout sauce and Citros Snow Cake), a TKM is really just a damage absorber. Most TKM BHs win not because they out-damage the Jedi, but because they run them out of force through extended fights. Actually out-damaging the healing and defensive abilities of Jedi (before they run out of force) is quite hard to do, despite common claims to the opposite; especially with a TKM. You won't be able to consistently Dizzy+KD a Jedi with Defender xxx4. Combine that with damage absorbtion food use by the Jedi, as well as templates with other trees of defender (or even Master Defender) and you'll find you'll only hit for a few hundred per hit at best, unless you have server-best gear.
Also, you can put bounties on anyone here and bounties you kill can in return put a bounty on you for deathblowing them. TKM BH's tend to do decently (in terms of survival) vs Jedi, but tend to do poorly vs ranged players and other BHs.
Back to your template, that template (TKM+Pistoleer 0040) gives solid defense and so a lot of BHs pick that up, along with either medic or the pistol tree of BH. Picking up medic would allow you to engage Jedi and survive quite well, although you would have a massive gap against ranged BHs, particularly BHs with eyeshot.
Pure ranged BHs are viable (MBH + Pistols or carbines, or BH34xx/BH3x4x + pistols/carbines), but you need near-capped weapons and sound tactics. 500-550+ scatter pistols, 600+ damage DE-10s, 550+ laser carbines, 1150+ damage LLCs, etc. You lose a ton of toughness by not going melee, so be aware that you have little room for error with these builds. They can be very effective, but you have to play them well and have the right gear.
Foods and PSGs are going to matter as much as your template, so make sure you're considering that as well.
