How to tame a wampa?

I've seen some talk about taming wampas so I thought I'd take a stroll around Hoth and see what I see. I found numerous packs of 4+ wampas, all with 47k+ HAM. No (baby) ones though, so I gave up after a bout an hour and a handful of tamed tauntauns.

So, do the babies spawn in the wild? or are you supposed to get missions for them (my CH was too low to get wampa missions, assuming they are available at some point)?

What strategy is best for taming one? I don't think I can kill a pack to single out a baby to tame it. Do I just throw up mask scent and yolo-tame one? Is there a pet that I am supposed to use to tank them while I tame it?

If someone is willing to post some advice on this, I would appreciate it a great deal. Thanks!

Babies spawn in the wild, but are very rare. I got lucky and ran into one the other night! Keep at it, or maybe use a ranger to help find one?

You just need to be patient they are hard to find. Not as bad as others but still require patience. Then when you tame it ideally pull everything else away with an alt or have friend do that so it's you and the baby. Then use food to boost mask scent and taming get in there and tame it. If you agro burst run away till it disengages and then try again.

Just YOLO-tamed one last night, takes several tries. I am MCH, +15 Taming bonus SEA, and no other bonuses. Took minimum 10 attempts. Mask Scent, try five times, wait for mask to drop, reapply, retry.

I dont spend a lot of time on Hoth except to check harvesters.
The 2 babies I have seen were right after a server restart.
This may be coincidence, but might be worth looking for them right after a restart?
