Previous Notes:

(No longer applicable)

SR Launcher 0.9.9 Beta Notes:

Included with the launcher is a set of new TREs file, these are the files that hold all the game's assets. I've streamlined them and dropped the file size and file count significantly, so expect better performance. There are no major player facing changes in this patch. That will come with Publish 8.

Notice: If your old installation directory was C:/SREmu, you will not see a SETUP message. Instead, the launcher will automatically download the new files. If you wish to run the Clean Up utility, follow the instructions in this post.

If you do not know where your old installation of SREmu is, please follow the "LOCATE PREVIOUS INSTALL" steps below to find your game directory.

Installing / Patching to AppData is not recommended. If your SREmu installation is located there, I highly suggest moving it to the root of your hard drive: ex: (C:/SREmu) or anywhere that does not require Administrator access.

If all went well, you should have a 1.19GB download. Verifying the files from your previous installation may take awhile depending on your computers processing power.

How to: LOCATE PREVIOUS INSTALL - Optional
  • Run the old Launcher
  • Right click on Icon in taskbar.
  • Right click "SREmu" in popup menu.
  • Left click "Properties."
  • In "SREmu Properties" window, select "Open File Location"
  • Move up a directory in File Explorer
  • Copy your SR installation folder and paste it to the same directory or somewhere else for safe keeping.

Please post bugs in this thread.

0.9.9 Known issues:
  • Can change Login Server while patching.
  • FPS Mod doesn't always work.
  • Can verify when a setup is required.
  • PayPal link is expired.
  • Clicking a link in the patch notes will open in the Notes webview instead of a new window.
  • You can only manage one installation of SREmu via the Launcher. Work around: http://www.swgsremu.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1214#p2954

I downloaded and ran the .exe and it did it's little load part and it finished

There was no SETUP option on the bottom right on my launcher. I closed it and ran as admin and still no setup option. I am however able to click play and log in so seems to be working without most of those steps?

Is your game installed to C:\SREmu?

The Launcher defaults to that location, if it detects that the game is there, it will start the patching process automatically. Which is a 1.19GB download of the new game files. - I should probably add this to the guide.

If you want to run the clean up utility, go to Game Config >> Installation Directory >> and select "Change." This will run the setup process.

From there you can follow the above steps and pointing it to your installation directory (You can leave it at C:\SREmu, you should see the message and a check box on the second screen, if not, reselect the directory) and then when you select "Finish" it will delete the old Launcher and old tre files, then verify your current install.

If your Pre-Pub 8 log in window looks like this, (New buttons, input boxes and exit button) then you're on the new tres.

Haha, thanks Veruca. The launcher may not even read version 1.0.0 yet, but it's more like version 28471.737b.final(2)-copy-last

Long road getting to this point.

And this only just half of it. Second part may come as soon as tomorrow, although everyone might be too busy with publish 8 to notice. :P

Multiple Installs
Some of you may have multiple installs to handle alias.

1.0.0 Method:
  • Open the Launcher and patch your main / first installation.
  • Once this is done, go to "Game Config" and under "Game Files" >> "Installation Directory" select "Change."
  • Navigate to your second / alternate installation and click "Select Folder".
    • If no copy of SWG is found, you will be prompt with instructions on how to proceed.
  • Wait for the patching to finish.
  • You may now run the game or repeat the steps above and change the "Installation Directory" back to your original installation.

Old Method:
I'd like to work out something for this in the future, but for now, here is a small work around to keep multiple SWG SREmu installations up to date.
  • Open the Launcher and patch your main / first installation.
  • Once this is done, go to "Game Config" and under "Installation Directory" select "Change."
  • This will bring up the setup guide. Accept the terms.
  • On the second page, select the "Install Folder" button.
  • Navigate to your second / alternate SREmu installation folder.
  • Click "Select Folder" to confirm the folder.
  • "Next" >> Agree to verification >> "Finish"
At this point, the launcher will start verifying the files in your second installation. You may let this finish, or close the launcher to cancel verification. (Verification is optional when patching an existing installation, this will be made simpler in future updates)
  • Reopen the launcher
  • Your second installation will now be automatically be patched, wait for it the complete.
  • You may now select "Play" to launch your game.
  • Or switch back to your original installation using the steps above.
Use shortcuts (or whatever previous method you used) to manage launching your alternative installations.

You do not need to launch the game from the launcher, but you will need to do this every time we publish a new update. This is only a temporary work around, I will be working on a permanent solution sometime in the future.
