I have found schematics for just about everything else in this game, but i've not found any medic/doctor schematics. is there a place that i need to look besides the broker?

You'll need a Food and Chemical crafting tool and station. Some of the schematics will work on a public crafting station, although some will require a private one. There are several cities / guilds that have spaces that are accessible. If you ask when you are in game someone will usually point you to the one closest too you.
