Skill cap sugestion

#1

Post by Darsch » Sun Jan 07, 2018 6:21 am

So even back in live i always felt skill cap at 250 skill points was too low and always thought maybe it should be at like 601.

I feel it would promote a great diversity in builds with out breaking the game. You would be able to super specialize or hybrid with out under powering your self to much and with everyone having the same amount of points they would not be over powered. I could be wrong and i do not even know if this would be possible however i though it was worth suggesting and getting feed back on with reasons for and against.
just as a point of reference to be able to master everything in the game would require 2499 skill points

Moderator edit: "Completely disagree with this."

Note: You can get your point across without resorting to personal insults

Before we even delve into the discussion of the merits of 601 skill points, I believe a lot of the practical aspect of it lies within the .exe file itself, which is a whole different animal to delve into, one which I have absolutely no experience in - and I am unsure whether any of the other devs have.

So as it is right now, it wouldn't be possible to add in more skill points ... I think we can limit them though :P

thank you for your input.

That was actually one of the things i was wondering about, I thought this would be a fun conversation to get going and gather peoples thoughts and technical input and such. I know one server i played on few years ago had some custom professions and extra skill points but no idea how they pulled it off since most everything broke every five minutes over there lol

I am of course a little late on this (work grind is currently crushing me). I am not a fan of that many skills points allowed. Even small changes have large impact on game play. Typically the servers that I have been on have reduced certain lines or novice boxes to zero. Such as making Novice entertainer 0 skills points. But even small changes like this have an effect ie players managing their own BF so not needing to interact with a player who is an entertainer. So I can see how having a character that has more skills is appealing it does come with a cost.
