With all of us being able to have 5 characters, I'm not sure that Merchant should be as free as it is.

Merchant for free is good and bad. It promotes more sales from professions like smuggler, doctor, etc. It does undermine some of the business aspects of merchant.

i think it being no points is the best thing... 5 toons is nt a lot man, i cant even have a crafter toon with only 5, so i use my ent with the free merchant :D would not be able to do that if it cost points

5 characters is a lot. You can absolutely have a crafter with 5 characters. I also have merchant on my ent too.

this is the age old argument, a lot of players wont play servers that offer more than 2 slots. I think they are the more hardcore player base. I often wish we had more than 5 as I like to be self-sufficient, a perk made possible by the EMU. But I see the hardcore players point of view regarding self sufficiency as hurting the social and player interaction aspects of the game, however unlike live we don't have 3000 player populations. Most players wishing they had more slots for toons, I think are players with jedi. To play jedi properly you need a lot of support toons. My jedi requires 4 support toons. A doc, an entertainer, a squad leader, a melee tank (pearl hunting), and a commando (pearl hunting). On live what I would have been force to do is run 3 accounts, at 2 toons each. I understand the argument of merchant being free or not, and if someone is a crafter/merchant mainly I can sympathize with the position of it shouldn't be free. They have spent a lot of time grinding their professions and cornering their markets.
