FRS Discussion
FRS Discussion
Since FRS is so far away and in need of complete rebalancing. I wanted to see what other players thought of FRS in general as well as start a discussion, maybe offer an idea or two and hopefully these discussions will prompt some other ideas that might be the solution to pop up.
Just a few things on this thread, please no flaming I.E if someone says something that is blatantly wrong, dont go off on them, dont be rude. Try to contribute what you think is supposed to be a pro and/or con of existing FRS system(Pros being obviously what you'd want to see in the next revision)
Just as a preface, I don't know how plausible my ideas are but under full realization that either way, this would be completely revamping the FRS system and way more work then Devs might want to do. They might not be at all plausible but all this is for is sparking discussion.
The Idea
My Idea was to just replace the FRS system with progression where there are dynamic trials and if x happens you can lose standing enough to potentially lose a progression. So just how there is JP and JK trials, There would be Jedi Guardian, and Jedi Master trial as well as some function to choose the Jedi Councillor. I havent thought about that part yet.
These trials are not meant be just grind it out and be over with it. So for example for jedi guardian - the player would have to go through x sets of y amount of trials. This could be be still in line with FRS skill tree where each set of trials would grant each box for example sentinel 1 for first, 2 for second etc.. up until consular 1 where the player becomes Jedi Guardian and in order to max out its power, has to continue doing trials up until consular 3 where there would be lets say a month of down time before starting the trials for Master. - The part for trials for master doesn't go all that well with lore so Im leaving it for discussion. Possibly having something to do with Darth Cadeous cave for jedi or Invasion of Jedi Enclave for DJ?
These trials could be anything, Gather z amount of XP and hand it to your trainer, kill x amount of players, Gather these items:.., As well as other things that could be focused on being a part of group as well.
Demotion
Through-out the time of being Jedi Guardian or above, there could be a function to lose the ranking by either not being active or something else. This could be determined by being handed a quest twice a month and having x amount of time to complete it. There also could be other ways for demotion by either losing to BH lets say 5 or 10 times a month or other ways.
The Council Seat
TBH No idea for this, it shouldnt be a popularity vote, leaving open for discussion.

Pros:
Makes other templates/jedi skills feasible, for example powers and heals actually do something and enhancer(armor 2) being a replacement for defender
Cons:
Fight Club - fighting within faction to gain ranking, a way to circumnavigate for what the system was meant for
Popularity vote - Jedi basically saying and voting in whoever is the most popular.
Honestly i blanked by the end of writing this so i cant think of pros and cons. However play devils advocate here and try to think of where this could go ban, as well as try to see where this could go well.

Cool! I’m going to read this again later, but the base idea of additional trials with promotion/demotion seems like exactly what we need.

At one Points FRS would be nice .. on the other Hand .. would FRS also push Defender with Weaken/Inti .. thats a no go .. befor FRS pop .. there should be Balance for Jedi ..
Ancient Holo maybee could be a Reward for Guardian/Oppressor + make it like 3 lines each Guardian/Oppressor Box .
For FRS itself just make them Boxes like ( 2Force Regen or 100 Force a Box ) .. just keep in mind that jedi is already to strong .. unnatural Builds like Defender + inti/weaken ( what personally destroyed my fun on jedi since i tested this on Test Server ) and there are more .. Defender was tanky ..but could run or heal ..
Maybee a fix in Defender could help : increase pt per box by 1 on defender

The only reason why FRS is needed is in order to make other builds viable that are way more fun then defender. For example i would rather drop down to 4xx4 defnder and pick up some force armor. Or respec into a force powers glass cannon. I personally dont even know anyone running inti/weaken build.
I saw 5 jedi kill message just last night i really doubt it that jedi are super strong
The whole point of frs is to make powers, bealers and enhancers viable because of of right now without manipulation control or power buffs from frs. Those skills are 90% neutered.
Again with all the jedi world opened i really doubt everyone will still hug cookie cutter mls mdef template as that wont be as good as other templates. Right now were forced to use that template because there is no other viable temple to use whether pve or pvp.
I really like the idea with ancient holo though. Maybe in additio nto doing the kadann quest, add a restriction that u have to be guardian to use it.

I think the *main* reason any people are advocating for FRS isn't about being OP or anything like that, it's about opening up all the templates to be at least semi-viable for PVP, I personally hate having to invest all the points into MDEF.
As far as the 24 points from village, I would gladly accept that being required in exchange as well, or even just something way harder, with bigger requirements, but not sure how that could be applied after already having the current system in.
Making each box just give more regen or force doesn't really make the other templates viable, the Light Jedi template that involves enhancer, requires the buffing rank up gives to make force armor and the force resist stats viable, right now FA2 is useless in almost every setting, wiping out your Force in minutes at most, even less time with more then 1 thing hitting you. Powers for Dark Jedi templates needs it put out damage as well, and I would dare to say powers/enhancer are 2 of the most exciting templates to run.
Every single jedi template doesn't have to be viable, but having almost every single point in your template pre-determined to be remotely useful is a bit discouraging.

I think there are too many current tweaks to jedi to allow the normal FRS progression. If FRS is to be implemented I would highly suggest taking jedi back to pure pub 10 vanilla. 226 points, no toggled forceRun, undo the penalty for chaining AI, rework all the damage types that had been changed. Then and only then could FRS be viable without making jedi ridiculously OP moreso than it is already. I would also suggest tweaking burst damage so jedi fights aren't lasting hours, maybe introduce damage enhancing focus crystals and 5th gen sabers, this way jedi vs jedi will last only minutes. Get saber damage up to 800 max, then you will see fights ending quicker. But make jedi 226 points and you will limit the templates that can be played. Don't get me wrong I love the current tweaks, but it makes jedi vs jedi fights very mundane especially when you add base turrets to the mix, fights are blah at best. If you really want to spark open warfare, implement group TeF and you will see some ass whooping.

If you make it a pathway towards a goal then there is no doubt people are clever enough and dedicated to realistically pretty much always get there. Then you've just basically done what other MMOs do and move the level cap upwards. What do you then do as the content is equal all over the gameworld? Accept that there will be one pathway that is open to time rich people or who play more convenient TZs to avoid consequences. Surely this is against the whole ethos of the game where it was easy to swap professions and level.
IMO it's bad enough you've got multiple jedi everywhere but they are padawans. Surely there would be a pyramid of ability from the easily beaten padawans, to the tough knights, progressing onwards etc. I am just cautioning you don't just want to add another level cap that players will easily reach and then you've diminished the rest of the population.
It's great you're looking at ways of doing this. Jedi is a difficult one by design. Having it so accessible and making it unique, balanced, and relevant is a very nasty game design problem. So nice one for even attempting it!
