powers: is it OP?

sure seems like it is, powers went from a sort of a joke to being the go to for everyone. Can blow up the best bh on the server in just a few clicks...as near as i can see a bh chas no defense for it either, i think that it needs some damage reduction (especially before FRS, can you imagine the damage a master is gonna do if i can kill a stacker with mind blast 2 in 3 shots with no other powers skills and no tapes?). I dont even think anyone can argue that it is in a ridiculous place right now damage wise...

Did either of you use food?
What was the name of the BH?
Did the BH use a PSG? If so what were the stats?
How much damage did you hit the BH for?
How much damage were you taking from the BH before you defeated them?
How many times did you fight? Did the BH try to counter MIND BLAST during those attempts?

Does Ranged damage mitigation work against Mindblast?


Im pretty passionate about Powers. Not because I use it, but because I think it is the carbineer of the jedi world.

i dont know the answers you seek, we can test stuff if you like though All I know is i can 3 shot my guildy with mind blast 2, he is a swords stacker, i have not yet faced a bh with it, but i spoke with a bh about going against it, i just think its something that might need some kind of tweaking, i like powers being viable but if its overpowered to an extreme then it needs to be balanced, same as everything else

i also dont think that there should be any jedi build that is proof against bh's. maybe ranged mitigation works which would make a mbh better vs powers...worth testing for sure

I have heard reports of Powers being a tad too strong in PvP. (It still blows in PvE)

Best thing you guys can do is post screenshots of your combat logs and your builds so we can get some examples.

Answering Osiris' questions will also help us.

And as for Ranged Mitigation on Powers, not sure. They aren't a typical "weapon."

powers has been so lame since its inception, its about time it got some love. I can beat anyone with the powers x4xx tree on my jedi. Have to learn how to combat it. As for jedi vs non jedi, im tickled that a build out there can actually romp for a change. How long have stackers been the alpha? Watch out stackers there's a new sheriff in town.

I totaly agree with this post and that powers is OP
both my bh which is tkm, pistol xx2x and chompbacca which is tkm, master doctor also gets ripped apart
and also 2 bh's one tkm and one master fencer have gone up against one and have gotten destroyed every time

I DO NOT think it needs to be reduced in damage, the amount of force each attack uses is more than enough to balance it. I as a MFD jedi can take out a powers jedi with ease, if I play my cards right. Powers should in nooooo way be reduced in damage. Again the amount of force that is used after just 5 attacks can be the death of that jedi if he didnt play his cards right either. I in the past had mentioned to Tyclo I thought how funny it was that powers was so strong, but its also a short lived DPS tree, as this tree uses the most force out of any of them. If it reduced in damage Powers will be completely useless as most people already saw it. Just because people finally figured out how to use it properly does not mean we should reduce it....I think a ranged BH could take on a force powers jedi, just no one is a ranged BH. Its like a ranged BH fighting a Masters Saber Jedi. The ranged BH will lose everytime.

Plus if powers is reduced a jedi will not be able to win against multiple BH at all. Its great for jedi to edit their trees to be able to withstand multiple BH if they want, but they are risking getting rid of heals tree, defense tree, and force run tree in exchange for powers. Its very balanced.

A jedi with a build to kill multiple BHs at once is at risk to die much easier to other jedi. Its definitely balanced.
